Mint/Gum (Entry #3)
Hello Everybody,
I've never really been fond of mints, because of how overpowering they are, but looks like I have no choice today. So today, I had to scavenge around the pantry to see if I had any mints readily available to me and it turns out that I don't. I also didn't want to go to the store just to buy mints, so I just decided to use a substitute. I do enjoy gum, so I have decided to use mint flavored mentos gum.

Here's an image of what I'm going to try (I'm eating the gum that's inside, not the packaging, DON'T WORRY!) and if you also want to try these out here's a link to buy them: Mentos Pure Fresh Gum Fresh Mint |
The first thing I notice is the texture, which oddly feels like a marble if it were coated with a bit of wax, so definitely not something that you would want to necessarily put in your mouth. The packaging is fun though as it sounds like maracas as you shake up the package. I have mixed feeling about the initial taste and feeling, I immediately noticed the coolness of the gum. My mouth does feel like it's been subjected to cryosleep or climbing Mount Everest, but I'm not having as much enjoyment as the man in the York Peppermint Pattie commercial. The taste is very overwhelming, I can feel the "freshness" of the mint surging through my sinuses and nostrils. Unfortunately, as the flavor dissolves into my tongue, I can feel my palate being purged of everything that I have eaten leaving me with nothing, but the sense of gnawing on winter air leaves. Although, the taste isn't great, I've found that the just from the initial bite, it is very effective, and I mean very effective at being able to wake you up and heighten all your senses. But as it dies down, you are left with nothing but the sad feeling of a soft breeze ruminating in your mouth with a glob of gum sitting in your mouth which chewing had no effect on. The upside is that when you drink water, you can still feel the surge of the Appalachians flowing through your mouth and on your tongue. I definitely feel that my breath has been cleansed, and I've found a new sense of cleanliness in my mouth. I had to take 3 pieces of gum in order to write out a good description for this, so I might've been abusing how much mint to actually use and I'm not truly getting the experience of the power of one mint or the fact that I may have a bias against mints in general.
Here's a review by a guy on YouTube to fill in for some more visual appeal as I didn't know what other images to add for this blog. And here's a link to the video if it doesn't work on the blog: Mentos Pure Fresh Gum Fresh Mint Review
Well, I guess that's it for this entry, let me know if you share a similar hatred for mints or had to eat several of them just to write your description.

Good start with using sensory details to describe this experience. Keep pushing yourself!
